JOB SUMMARY:
The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting services to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of the organization's information technology systems and infrastructure. The role involves resolving hardware and software issues, configuring and maintaining computer systems, and assisting users with technical problems. The IT Technician will collaborate with the South African IT team to implement and support IT initiatives and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization's technology infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide technical support to end-users by resolving hardware, software, and network issues promptly and efficiently.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
• Perform hardware and software upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks as required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
• Set up and configure new user.
• Assist in the administration and maintenance of servers, including backups and security updates.
• Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets and ensure proper documentation, BLU Asset register.
• Collaborate with the IT team to plan, implement, and support IT projects and initiatives.
• Train and educate end-users on the use of hardware, software, and IT policies.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the IT infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• BSc. Computer Science, Bsc. Computer Engineering, Bsc. Information Technology or related fields.
• Diploma Comptia A+ and N+ in Information Technology, (or equivalent).
• Proven experience as an IT Technician or in a similar technical support role. (3-5 years working experience)
• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
• Experience with troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
• Familiarity with network protocols, configurations, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems and peripherals.
• Knowledge of server administration and maintenance tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Detail-oriented approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
